Exquisite Form

The Exquisite Form lingerie brand, along with national brands Vanity Fair, Lily of France, Curvation, Vassarette and Bestform, is part of the Vanity Fair group of lingerie and intimates brands which is owned by the Fruit of the Loom corporation. 

Exquisite Form was founded in 1945, with head designer Lilian Hanau, at a time when most lingerie companies had male bra designers. Exquisite Form was also the first to market bras in packages and boxes. Rudi Gernreich, the designer of the first topless swimsuit, collaborated with them, producing the famous "No Bra," which was a departure from the bullet-shaped bra cups of the past, introducing soft, sheer fabrics and natural shapes.  

The Fully collection of Exquisite Form bras, originally designed in the 1970s, was the first to address the fact that some women needed fuller bras in the cup, not bigger bras in band size. These included innovations like reinforcing power mesh support frames, and added support under cups and stretch sides, which gave an overall fuller fit, postural support, slimming and shaping. It was around this time that the Exquisite Form Fully line was introduced to the world with the iconic tagline, "When You Need a Fuller Bra...Not a Bigger Bra."
